Frontman Jay Webster—also known as SHAOLIN G—describes the album as a reflection of personal struggles, growth, and perseverance.
According to Webster, the journey behind Somewhere In Between... has been anything but easy. He characterizes the album as both a difficult climb and a chaotic spiral, representing moments of triumph mixed with lingering challenges that continued to follow him throughout the creative process.
“This record represents a much more raw and strained energy compared to anything we’ve done before,” Webster explains. “Like every UnityTX release, it comes from real experiences we’ve faced individually and together. Those moments shaped who we are today. We’re not a band that settles for routine—we know what we’ve earned and we’re always willing to prove it.”
Webster adds that the writing process forced him to deeply reflect on issues that reach beyond his own life. During that time, he says he experienced constant emotional swings—moving forward, feeling pulled back, losing direction, rediscovering clarity, and confronting anxiety along the way.
“There were moments while writing this record where I honestly didn’t expect to still be here by the time it came out,” he shares. “My outlook has changed since then, but the emotions I felt in those moments fueled the music.”
Ultimately, Webster says the album marks a new stage for the band’s evolution. He hopes the record resonates with listeners who may feel lost or uncertain, offering them something meaningful within its message.
Currently, UnityTX are on the road supporting Varials for a month-long U.S. tour that kicked off in Detroit. The run will continue through major cities including Chicago, Denver, Anaheim, Dallas, Atlanta, Baltimore, Brooklyn, and more.
